Testing the ECPSSR theory and its modifications with ratios of antiproton-to-proton ionization cross sections
While fits to 90% of all ever measured K-shell ionization cross sections by protons are on the average within 10% of the ECPSSR [W. Brandt, G. Lapicki, Phys. Rev. A 23 (1981) 1717], this theory systematically overestimates the remaining 10% of all data (comprised mainly of the measurements on heavy target elements) in the slow collision regime of proton velocities less than 0.1 of the orbital v...
متن کاملInteraction cross sections for light neutron-rich nuclei
Interaction cross sections for nuclei with Z52 – 12 on a C target are calculated in the Glauber model with matter densities obtained from Skyrme Hartree-Fock and relativistic Dirac potentials. The shell-model orbital occupations and separation energies are taken from configuration-mixing calculations and experimental spectroscopic data. Halo effects are present in the most neutron-rich C and N ...
متن کاملGravity Mediated Interaction Cross Sections Without Ultraviolet Divergence
In this paper I will show how to calculate gravitationally corrected QFT interaction cross sections without ultraviolet divergences. I will also make a prediction for the result of a simple experiment proposed in this paper. This work builds on papers published in 2014 and a talk given at the April 2015 APS conference in which I described relativization. In relativization QFT’s are made to comp...
متن کاملMeasurements of interaction cross sections for light unstable nuclei
Recent experimental results concerning interaction cross sections (σI) are reviewed. σI values have been measured by a transmission method using the fragment separator at GSI. The σI values for B, C, N, O, and F isotopes are presented. By using Glauber-model analysis, the effective matter radii for light neutron-rich nuclei can be deduced. The recently shown magic number, N = 16, near the neutr...
متن کاملLow-energy Antiproton Interaction with Helium
An ab initio potential for the interaction of the neutral helium atom with antiprotons and protons is calculated using the Born-Oppenheimer approximation. Using this potential, the annihilation cross section for antiprotons in the energy range 0.01 μeV to 1 eV is calculated.
